Alexis Watts, Natural Resource Specialist
Alexis Watts joined Ecosphere in 2004 and serves as a biologist and project manager. She brings to the firm extensive experience in endangered species management and research, as well as an understanding of the social ramifications of environmental policies. She conducts biological assessments and TES surveys, provides NEPA documentation, and manages large scale rangeland vegetation inventories. Alexis is also experienced with avian surveys, mammal tracking, carnivore and small mammal trapping, and radio telemetry. Prior to joining Ecosphere Alexis taught natural history, conservation biology, and field skills for Round River Conservation Studies on programs in Arizona and Namibia. Other previous work includes a year as project field leader on an Andean cloud forest conservation program in Ecuador, and two years as a wolf technician on the Mexican Wolf Recovery Project in Arizona and New Mexico. She has also spent several seasons as a behavior biologist researching Mexican spotted owls. Alexis holds a M.S. in natural resources and sociology with a certificate in natural resource and environmental policy from Utah State University and a B.A. in sociology/anthropology from Carleton College.
